2007 Street Stock Rules

STREET STOCK MISSION STATEMENT:

“AN INEXPENSIVE DIVISION DESIGNED TO DEVELOP MECHANICAL AND DRIVING APTITUDES. THIS DIVISION PROVIDES A PLATFORM TO LEARN AND IDENTIFY BASIC SKILLS PRIOR TO MOVING ON TO MORE COMPLEX COMPETITION. DRIVERS WITH PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN OTHER CLASSES AT CHEMUNG SPEEDROME  ARE INELIGIBLE.”

1. COMPETING MODELS - 1969 and newer American made full frame cars and trucks with a minimum of 108” wheelbase as factory listed for that year and model. No Firebirds, Camaros, Mustangs or two passenger sports cars. No “uni-body” cars, all must have a full frame. No convertibles or using of their frames for other models. Stock frames must be from the same manufacturer, i.e.: Chevy for Chevy, Ford for Ford and Dodge for Dodge. Station wagons are eligible if they meet the above requirements. Rangers, S-10s and Dakotas allowed, no full-sized pickups allowed.

2. WEIGHT - Minimum weight shall be as follows: 3200 pounds with the driver. Maximum left side weight of 53% with the driver. Gasoline, water and oil may not be added after the race to make weight

3. ADDED CAR WEIGHT - Added weight must be is block form of no less than five (5) pound blocks (no pellets). Added weight must be welded in a box or attached with two (2) or more bolts minimum 7/16” diameter. No weight mounted inside the driver’s compartment and must be mounted above the lowest edge of the frame rail. All weights must be painted white and have the car number stenciled on it in black.

4. DETAILED BODY REQUIREMENTS - Body must be straight and stock, mounted in the stock location on the frame. No lowering, chopping, channeling of any body parts or roof. Side window openings must be maintained. All exterior chrome trim, ornaments, outside mirrors and door handles must be removed. No flat sided body panels will be allowed. No body skirts or lower body rocker panel flares. No rear spoilers of any kind.

5. GLASS - All factory glass except windshield must be removed. No stock side or rear windows allowed. Full windshield is required made of factory glass or 1/8” polycarbonate. Windshield must have safety straps inside and out. No cracked windshields will be allowed. All lights and lenses must be removed. Headlight and taillight openings must be covered.

6. REAR VIEW MIRROR - One mirror mounted in the upper center of the windshield area no larger than 8” x 2”. No multi image (“Wink”) or side mirrors allowed.

7. DASHBOARD - Plastic and glass trim must be removed and covered with sheet metal.

8. FIREWALLS - Front firewall must be stock with all holes covered with sheet metal at least .031” thick. Rear firewall must be made of .031” sheet metal securely installed over the rear seat back brace and top shelf, completely closing off the trunk compartment. No aluminum firewalls, must follow stock configuration. Full stock floor pan must be maintained. Floors may be patched with .031” sheet steel but cannot be replaced.

9. DOORS - All doors must be welded or bolted shut. Steel fabricated doors allowed if they resemble stock doors.

10. FENDERS - Full front and rear fenders are required. Reinforcing inner panels and inner front fenders may be removed. Fender angles must remain stock. Wheel openings may be trimmed a maximum of 5” from the outside edge for tire clearance. Stock or stock appearing fenders allowed, no flat sided, homemade-type fenders allowed.

11. GRILLES - Stock unit may be replaced with screen between headlight doors. No open front grill areas allowed.

12. HOODS - Full stock hood must be in place at all times. Reinforcing inner panel may be removed. Hood must be held closed with quick release pins. Hood must lay flat and must appear stock with no bows or bubbles in the center. Hood must be sealed at firewall, fenders and windshield.

13. TRUNKS - Full stock trunk lid must be run. Reinforcing inner panels may be removed. Lid must be held in place with quick release pins. All openings in rear panel must be covered. Trunk floor under fuel cell must be removed. Pick up beds may be covered. Inner fenders rearward of the rear firewall may be removed.

14. BUMPERS - Stock automotive type only. Bumpers must be in original position and must not be reinforced. Bumpers should be welded to brackets. The outside ends must be attached to the body to prevent hooking. Bumper must be stock for the vehicle, no truck bumpers on cars or “cow catcher” bumpers.

15. IDENTIFICATION AND MARKINGS - See track rules

16. GENERAL ENGINE REQUIREMENTS - Engine must be OEM with cast iron production heads, intake and exhaust manifolds.

ENGINES ALLOWED: GM 350, FORD 351, MOPAR 360. Any other engine must be approved. Stock stroke must be maintained. Maximum overbore .030” from stock. No deflashing, abrasive cleanings, grinding, welding, Teflon coating or deburring of cast parts. Engine must be in stock location in chassis.

 

17. DETAILED ENGINE REQUIREMENTS: BLOCK, CRANKSHAFT, CONNECTING RODS, PISTONS, HEADS, VALVES, VALVE SPRINGS, RETAINERS, ROCKER ARMS, CAMSHAFT, TIMING CHAIN, WATER PUMP AND PULLEYS must be OEM. No lightened or titanium parts allowed. OIL PAN - Aftermarket pans with “kick outs” allowed. No “Power Pans” and all pans subject to track approval.

18. INTAKE MANIFOLD - STOCK CAST IRON PASSENGER CAR MANIFOLDS OF TWO (2) BARREL DESIGN ONLY! MANIFOLD MUST BE ONE THAT WAS USED WITH AN OEM TWO (2) BARREL CARBURETOR. NO THROTTLE BODY MANIFOLDS ALLOWED. You are required to use an UNALTERED stock manifold. NO porting, polishing, acid dipping, deburring, de-flashing, abrasive cleaning, internal painting, milling, cutting, drilling holes, enlarging bolt holes, matching of ports or welding. ABSOLUTELY NO MODIFICATIONS OF ANY KIND. A track supplied stock intake manifold must fit your engine complete with stock gaskets. All holes must be in alignment and same size as stock.

19. CARBURETOR - The only approved carburetor shall be the Holley two-barrel model #4412 ALL PARTS MUST BE A HOLLEY PART FOR THE 4412.

(1) Body of Carburetor: No polishing, grinding or drilling of holes permitted.

(2) The choke may be removed but all screw holes must be permanently sealed.

(3) Choke Horn: Choke horn MAY NOT be removed.

(4) Boosters: Boosters may not be changed. Size or shape must not be altered. Height must remain standard.

(5) Venturi: Venturi area must not be altered in any manner. Casting marks must not be removed.

(6) Alterations to allow additional air to be picked up below the opening of the veturies such as altered gaskets, base plates and drilling holes into the carburetor will not be permitted.

(7) Base Plate: Base plate must not be altered in shape or size.

(8) Butterflies: Stock butterflies must not be thinned or tapered. Idle holes may be drilled in the butterflies. Screw ends may be cut even with shaft but screw heads must remain stock.

(9) Throttle Shaft: Shaft must remain standard and must not be thinned or cut in any manner.

20. CARBURETOR SPACER - Only one solid spacer made of aluminum or phenolic plastic with a maximum height of 1” permitted. Only one .075” maximum gasket per side. No wedge shaped mounting surfaces, both top and bottom must be parallel. Spacer can be no larger than the base of the carburetor. Portholes or hole must be vertical to the mounting surface with no beveling, tapering or flaring.

21. AIR CLEANER AND AIR FILTER - Only round paper air cleaner elements of a minimum of 12” - maximum 14” diameter will be permitted. Maximum of three (3) inches in height. All air must be filtered through the element. Top of air cleaner must be solid with no holes other than for the mount. Metal top and bottom of the air cleaner must be the same diameter. No air induction, ducts, baffles, tubes or funnels which may control the air leading to inside of, or between the air filter and carburetor. The air filter base must have a minimum round opening of 5 inches. No plastic air cleaners or parts.

22. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - BATTERIES - Battery must be placed under the hood on the right side of the engine compartment. It may be placed in the heater box in the firewall but must be totally enclosed. A clearly marked battery disconnect switch must be installed on the right side of the dash area.

23. IGNITION SYSTEM & STARTER - Stock for year, make and model.

24. RADIOS - Two (2) way radios not permitted. One-way radio on the track frequency is required, but no other radio communication from anyone outside the car, to the driver, is allowed. Track frequency : 150.815

25. ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM - Stock OEM radiators only, no aftermarket radiators of any kind allowed. Radiators may be interchanged between makes and models but must remain stock and mounted in the stock location. All racecars must be equipped with an overflow catch-can of at least one (1) gallon capacity mounted under the hood. Electric fan may be used in place of the stock unit.

26. ENGINE EXHAUST SYSTEM - Exhaust manifold must be from sedan type passenger car only, no truck, sports car (Corvette, Camaro, etc.) or aftermarket manifolds. Pipes must exit behind the doors, ahead of the rear tires and to the outside rear edge of the doors. Only one pipe per side of the car. Maximum size 2 ½”, no merge, balance tubes or “two into one” systems allowed. Mufflers required, no modifications of any kind allowed, both flanges must be intact. No stainless steel mufflers allowed. Mufflers must be removable for inspection. Thermal wrap is not permitted anywhere on the exhaust system.

27. TRANSMISSION - AUTOMATICS ONLY - Stock OEM units, no modifications of any type allowed. No powerglide transmissions allowed. TORQUE CONVERTER must be full size for the make, model of car. Torque converter must be operational.

28. DRIVESHAFT - Steel driveshafts only. Driveshaft must be painted white for safety. Two (2) hoops of ¼” by 2” steel must be placed around the front and rear of the shaft.

29. REAR AXLE - Stock for year, make and model. No posi-traction, locked or welded differentials allowed. EACH DRIVE WHEEL MUST TURN INDEPENDENTLY.

30. WHEELS - Racing wheels allowed, 8” maximum with minimum backspacing of two (2) inches. Must be steel, no plastic, magnesium or aluminum wheels allowed. All wheel studs must be a minimum of ½” magnetic steel with magnetic steel racing type lug nuts, and must extend ½” beyond the outside surface of the lug nut. Track tire to be determined. NOTICE: A participant competing in any race at Tioga Motorsports Park specifically agrees that he/she acknowledges that it is illegal to soak or otherwise treat racing tires and that said soaking or treatment of racing tires is against EPA regulations and further contains carcinogens and hazardous material which are unfit for his/her health and the health of all competitors and spectators. Any participant found violating this rule may be subject to suspension.

31. FRAMES - All frames must be stock from the front bumper mounts to the centerline of the rear axle. Rear portion of frame may be replaced with 2” x 3” tubing.

 

32. SPRINGS - Stock appearing for year, make and model in stock position only. No helper springs or traction bars. Fixed or adjustable spring spacers may be used. No jacking bolts. Stock sway bars may be used front and/or rear attached with stock or stock-appearing hardware, NO HEIM JOINTS.

33. SHOCKS - One shock per wheel mounted in the stock position. Any stock OEM type shock, which will fit in the stock mounting position. Gas shocks are permitted, adjustable shocks are not.

34. A-FRAMES - Upper and lower must be stock for year, make and model. Stock rubber bushings may be replaced with aftermarket bushings. No offset bushings allowed.

35. SPINDLES AND HUBS - Stock for year, make and model. No modifying of suspension parts permitted.

36. STOCK TREAD WIDTH MUST BE MAINTAINED.

37. WHEELBASE - The wheelbase must be within ½” of stock on each side of the car.

38. GROUND CLEARANCE - A minimum of six (6) inches of ground clearance must be maintained at all times measured at the lowest point of the frame rail. No part of the body, sheet metal or bumper may be lower than 6” from the ground. All ground clearance requirements and measurements are with the driver in the car.

39. BODY HEIGHT - Minimum height for the roof is 53” inches measured at the roof centerline behind the stock windshield opening.

40. WEIGHT TRANSFER DEVICES - Other than spring spacers, none permitted.

41. STEERING COMPONENTS - Stock for year, make and model. Stock steering shaft may be replaced with tubular steel. No tilt wheels.

42. STEERING WHEEL - An approved quick release steel coupling on steering wheel is recommended. Center-top of steering wheel must be padded with at least 2” of resilient material.

43. BRAKES - Stock for year, make and model. No adjustable proportioning valves allowed. Must use stock brake pedal in the stock location.

44. FUEL CELL - Fuel cell is mandatory, bladder style cell strongly recommended. Cell must be located in trunk area. Cell must be centered between the frame rails and no lower than the lower edge of the rear frame rails. Fuel line must run under the floor and a clearly marked on/off valve must be within reach of the driver. The gas cap must be painted white with the car number on it for identification.

45. DRIVING SUITS & HELMETS -1 piece fireproof suits only. Helmet must be full face and Snell 95 or newer. Competitors without a Nomex® lined helmet will be required to wear a Nomex® head sock. Fireproof gloves of at least single layer also mandatory.

46. BELTS & SHOULDER HARNESS - 5 point harness system mandatory.

47. SEAT - Aluminum Racing seat MANDATORY. No fiberglass or plastic seats. Seats must be fastened with at least 6 bolts to the frame/cage/chassis and not just the floorboard of the car.

48. NERF BARS - Nerf bars optional located inside or outside body. Outside nerf bars must be as close as reasonably possible to the body with the ends tapered toward the body.

49. ROLL BARS

 

(1) Vehicles must be equipped with a roll bar. The roll bar must be located directly behind the driver and reach as close as possible to the roof and left side of the car.

(2) Roll bars must be welded directly to the frame. Roll bar material used must be a minimum of 1 ¾” diameter mild steel with a minimum thickness of .090”. No pipe fittings, galvanized pipe, exhaust pipe or conduit allowed. Roll bar supports must be back braced from hoop to rear car frame at an approximate 45-degree angle.

(3) Forward cage supports may pass through the firewall to the radiator support but they MAY NOT be attached to each other in a traditional “front loop” fashion, they must turn downward and attach to the front frame horn.

(4) Roll bar installation is subject to inspection and will be closely scrutinized.

(5) Six- (6) point roll cage minimum required. Must have a minimum of 3 curved bars on drivers’ side. Minimum 2 bars on the right side door-area

(6) May or may not be curved.

 

NOTICE - Competitors are solely and directly responsible for the safely of their race cars and racing equipment and are obligated to perform their duties (whether as a car owner driver Or crew members) a manner designed to minimize to the degree possible the risk of injury to themselves and others.

The rules in this division are intended to make racing less expensive and keep competition equal as possible. While these rules offer a good outline, every item cannot be covered by a written rule. If you come up with something not covered in the rules, PLEASE ASK FIRST!

No equipment will be considered as having been approved by reason of having previously passed through inspection unobserved. No car will be considered as having passed inspection for the event until the finish is made official.

DEFINITION OF STOCK: In the following Rules you will see the term OEM Stock used. This means Original Equipment Manufacturer. The parts must come on a standard production car. Special "Off-Road" or race parts will not be permitted unless pre-approved. No carbon fiber or titanium engine or chassis parts unless approved by track officials.

ILLEGAL ITEMS - Absolutely NO removal of, alteration of, or covering of casting numbers, part number_ manufacturers name, logo, insignia, etc., from any item on the race car. To do so makes a part illegal a will be treated as such. If you come up with a rare part that we cannot find listed for passenger car use the burden of proof is on you! At any time you may be asked to remove a head, manifold or possibly entire engine for inspection. Failure to comply will result in the same penalty as if it were illegal

INSPECTION - All model, engine or equipment changes or modifications not specifically addressed in the rulebook must be submitted to Chemung Speedrome for consideration of approval. All equipment is subject to the approval of Track Officials Equipment will not be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection unobserved.

Any equipment that does not conform to specifications or tolerances contained in this rulebook or is not otherwise approved by Chemung Speedrome may not be used in competition.

The rules in this book may be added to, deleted from or changed at any time with the only notice to be given at the event drivers meeting. All officials decisions are final, non-appealable and non-litigable. Technical bulletins will be issued as needed.

NOTE: ALL CARS Must Be Neatly painted and lettered. No triple digit numbers. No letters for numbers.

EVERY COMPETITOR MUST MAKE THEMSELVES AWARE OF AND FAMILIAR WITH THE TECHNICAL RULES CLASS. EVERY INDIVIDUAL AGREES TO BE KNOWLEDGEABLE AND BOUND BY THE CONTENTS OF THE CHEMUNG SPEEDROME RULEBOOK.
