FOUR CYLINDER RULES
Four Cylinder Stock &
4-Cylinder Youth. (Speedrome JR) classes.
F.1. CHASSIS AND BODY:
Open to Four Cylinder
front engine sedan, subcompact or compact two door cars:
Toyota: Supra; Ford: Mustang, Escort, Probe, Thunderbird
(trimmed two inches); Pinto: Chevrolet: Chevette, Beretta,
Cavalier, Camaro, Monte Carlo, Corsica; Pontiac: Grand Am, Grand Prix, Sunbird,
SunFire; Dodge Daytona; Plymouth/Chrysler Lazer; Mercury:
Lynx, Cougar, Capri. Only a complete interchange of body
parts. all one make and one type no half Ford & half
Chevrolet bodies.. with full floor firewalls, & inner
fenders, trunks maybe modified to allow for fuel cell. No
convertibles, two seat sport cars, four-wheel drive,
independent suspension or front wheel drives allowed.
F.1.2. APPEARANCE: All
cars must be neatly painted and professionally lettered.
Dark cars are not recommended. Numbers.( No LETTERS.) from
00 to 99 at least 18 inches high and 3 inch wide excluding
borders and silhouettes, must be neatly attached or
painted on both sides of car/truck on center of doors and
on roof, reading from the passenger side. Two digit
numbers must not overlap. SPEEDROME OFFICIALS DETERMINE
that the numbers are legible. Car numbers must be
registered with SPEEDROME OFFICIAL. And a competitor may
be required to use a different number in order to avoid
duplication or Confusion.
F.2. No hood scoops. No
holes in hood. No openings.
F.3. Rear spoilers: All
rear spoilers must be approved by Speedrome Officials.
F.3.1. A (6) six inch max.
non adjustable fabricated spoiler made of aluminum or 1/4
inch clear polycarbonate
may be used. Stock type rear spoilers allowed.
F.3.2. The rear spoiler
must not be wider than the standard width of the rear
quarter panels.
FA. Body must be complete
and overall appearance must remain stock (see F.1.) (after
market nose and tail pieces allowed.) All glass, except
the windshield must be removed. Glass windshields must
have four 3inch tabs (2 on top, 2 on bottom and two inner
center braces.
FA.1. Windshields may be
replaced with polycarbonate /Iexan, must have four 3-inch
tabs (2 on top, 2 on bottom and two inner center braces.
FA.2.An approved screen
may be used as an alternative to a windshield. Must have
two inner center braces. No chicken wire or aluminum
screen allowed.
FA.3. Polycarbonate /
lexan in front of driver with screen placed in remaining
area. (Over all windshield area must shield DRIVER. No
chicken wire or aluminum screen allowed.)
F.5. Doors must be welded
or securely fastened front and back.
F.5.1. A complete front
and rear (engine area & trunk area) firewall between
Driver's compartment is required with all holes covered
with no less than 20 gauge steel
F.6. BUMPERS Stock type
facial or bumper front & rear. No aluminum bumpers.

.exterior tubing must be
round. (after market nose and tail pieces allowed.) Side
rails must have maximum of 1 3/4" 0.D. All tubing
must be radiused back into and attached to the frame or
cage, 18" centers from ground. Valance bars for fuel
tank and radiator only not more than 1-1/2" maximum
size. Face of front and rear loops must be at least
1/2" behind leading edge of hood and trunk.
F.6A One only external
maximum 1 inch nerf bars allowed with no sharp edges. Skin
tight to the body located between front and rear wheels
and parallel to the ground.
F.7. Front and rear tow
hooks MANDATORY.
F.8. CHASSIS: Must have
front loop. A complete six (6) point roll cage is
mandatory. Installed in a safe, professional manner.
1-1/4" .090 wall steel tubing minimum with three door
bars on driver's side and two door bars on passenger side.
MUST BE APPROVED BY SPEEDROME OFFICIALS. All roll cage
bars with in 18" of the Driver's body, extended arms,
legs, head, must be properly padded with approved roll bar
padding.
F.8.1. May fabricate frame
front & rear using 2x3" tubing from strut tower
in front forward & centerline of rear axle to the
rear.
F.8.2. Front loop to
protect drivers' legs and feet. No sharp pointed objects
in driver's area.
F.9. Fuel shutoff must be
in reach of right hand of driver and master switch on left
hand side of steering column face of dash.
F.10. Racing Fuel cell is
MANDATORY. Fuel cell must be mounted in a safe and
professional manner. Must have a protection loop behind
fuel cell.
F.10.1. Fuel cell must be
protected front, bottom, and both sides with minimum 18
gauge steel, minimum 12" from ground.
F.11. Wheel base 103"
MAX.
F.12. SUSPENSION: Must
have stock suspension. RACING SPRINGS ALLOWED, CUPS
ALLOWED IN FRONT ONLY, BUT MUST BE WELDED. STRUTS AND
SHOCKS MUST BE STOCK.
F12.1. All front control
arms & rear trailing arm pivot points must be in stock
position AND STOCK LENGTH STEEL BUSHINGS ALLOWED
F.12.2. All cross members
must be in stock position, no slotting of holes or
repositioning of cross members to alter the wheel base or
change angle of control arms & trailing arms.
F.12.3. FORD T BIRD
Chassis permitted, T bird A- Arms, axles and body on
mustang chassis permitted.
F.13.1. WEIGHT: 2600 Lbs.
(Minimum weight with driver after race.) solid lift head

HEAD
F.13.2. Any weight inside
drivers compartments must be securely fastened and have a
1/4" minimum steel plate surrounding it from the
DRIVER. (MUST BE APPROVED BY SPEEDROME OFFICIALS.)
FOUR CYLINDER- 185 pounds
compression limit. Track gauge only.
F.14. ENGINE: Engine must
remain stock as manufactured - 2300 CC Ford or Toyota
22R.
All engines must be
standard production heads and blocks.
F.14.1. Engine block:
Standard production only with a maximum 0.060 overbore.
Block deck milling and align honing permitted. No portion
of the Pistons may protrude above the block deck surface.
With the EXCEPTION OF ENGINES THAT ARE FACTORY BUILT WITH
PISTONS THAT PROTUDE ABOVE THE DECK SURFACE. NOT TO EXCEED
.010 OF FACTORY SETTINGS
F.14.2. Pistons: Flattop
or dish only using three ring in place. NO lightweight
piston or piston pins.
F.14.3. Connecting Rods:
O.E.M. rods or after market forged I beam 5.2- 5.7length.
F.14.4. Crankshaft: Stock
stroke crankshafts only. No lightweight, cut down, or
narrowed crankshafts allowed. No knife edging, No drilling
to lighten before balancing, no polishing of counter
weights.
F.14.5.Camshaft: Hydraulic
or solid lifter cams only as OEM manufactured maximum lift
.510 measured at valves. Aftermarket cams allowed. No
roller cams. Only stock OEM cam followers or rocker arms
on push rod motors.
F.14.6. Cylinder Head: OEM
Manufactured Cylinder Heads Only. Stock or Stock
replacement valves,1.830 MAX INTAKE 1.590 EXHAUST MAX,
springs, retainers & lock NO acid porting or
polishing. NO hand grinding NO exterior or interior
coating, epoxy or welding.
F.14.6.1. CYLINDER HEAD
CLAIMER, PROTEST PROCEDURE. Before the feature event
starts a DRIVER must have a SPEEDROME claimer form with
car number and Drivers name that he or she has a protest
against, CASH in the amount of $350.00 and understand that
he or she will be removing the cylinder head from their
race car/truck for inspection also.
If the cylinder head is
found to be legal 75% of the protest fee will be paid to
the protested Drive and 25% of the. protest fee will be
paid to racetrack. If, after tear down, the cylinder head
is found to be illegal 75% of the protest fee will be
returned.
To the protesting Driver
and 25% of the protest fee will be paid to the racetrack.
(cylinder head will be confiscated)
F.14.7. Intake: Must be
OEM as cast, no modifications, carburetor type manifolds
only .NO FUEL INJECTED INTAKES ALLOWED.
F.14.8. TIMING Adjustable
or multi-key slot timing gears allowed. Modifying stock
timing parts allowed.
F.14.9. Oil pan 1"
pipe plug installed in oil pan that makes viewing of rods
and cranks - possible with engine installed in car. Must
pull 1 " plug or pan for inspection.
F.14.10. No high
performance ignition or ignition boxes allowed.
F.14.11. NO ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS ALLOWED
F.15. Carburetor: One
only, OEM for engine used, no modifications.
Holley only number 4412
F.15.1. Carburetor adaptor
plate only one solid spacer, made of aluminum, maximum
1" permitted Only one solid spacer made of aluminum
or pheonolic plastic of a maximum height of one (1) inch
permitted. Only one .075 maximum gasket per side. NO wedge
shaped mounting surfaces, both top and bottom surfaces
must be parallel. Spacer must have 2 holes maximum size
1.750 straight bore and match the base of carburetor. No
air flow modifications.
F.15.2 Air cleaner: May
run aftermarket air cleaners. No air induction plastic
carburetor inserts or other devices to direct air into
carburetor No Air diffusers are allowed.
F.16. TRANSMISSION AND
DRIVE LINE:
F.16.1. Fly Wheel - Stock
steel, no aluminum etc.
F.16.2. Clutch must be OEM
type only. No lightweight parts. This means clutch disc
and pressure plate.
Note: These parts will be
checked and weighed at the discretion of SPEEDROME
OFFICIALS. FLYWHEEL-CLUTCH-PRESSUREPLATE WILL BE WEIGHED
TOGETHER AND MUST WEIGH MIN. 27 LBS.
F.16.3. Transmission must
have all gears working at all times.
F.16.4. Drive shaft: steel
only, no ultra-light steel drive shafts.
F.16.5 Rear Differential
must be locked. No spools or aluminum parts
F.17. BATTERY: Any battery
inside drivers compartment must be in a Marine-type
container, and a master switch on left hand side of
steering column face of dash.
F.16. EXHAUSTS: Proper
installation and maintenance is the responsibility of the
car owner.
Mandatory spec muffler.
One (1) Walker Dyno Max Super Turbo mufflers
(NAPA Model #17763 -
2" or Part #17734 - 2 1/2") mandatory. Part
numbers must be visible to inspectors.
Exhaust must exit
underneath or behind car. If inside car, must be covered
with tin. No side exhausts systems.
These mufflers, properly
maintained, will produce a 95-decibel reading or less
measured at the flag stand
or infield. Any car with loose exhaust, lost muffler, or
leak, etc. that creates over a 95 decibel reading during
any racing event may be disqualified and black flagged
until the exhaust problem is corrected to meet the 95
decibel reading. Any driver not abiding by this rule may
result in a fine, loss of points, and loss of point
monies. Track decibel meter reading will be final. This
rule is made to protect the drivers, crews and spectators
from hearing loss and preserve the sport of racing now and
into the future. Also any non-racing oval muffler of equal
or less cost of spec muffler not to exceed 95 decibel will
be allowed.
HEADER / Exhaust manifolds
stock cast iron or RANGER HEADERS ONLY
F.18. WHEELS, TIRES, AND
BRAKES:
Stock reinforced steel
wheels or approved steel wheels. No light weight racing
wheels 8-inch wheel width maximum.
Must maintain 74 INCHES
FROM OUTSIDE TO OUTSIDE. OF SIDEWALL
F.18.1. NO wheel spacers
allowed.
F.18.2. Track Tire Only
(will be Available at Speedrome) NO RECAPS
F.18.3. BRAKES: Four (4)
wheel brakes required. Must be capable of locking and
sliding all four (4) wheels. Brakes may be checked at any
time.
F.19. SAFETY: Must use
aluminum high back racing seat or racing seat with padded
headrest that is securely fastened. Must have 5-point
racing seat belt harness, no more than 5 years old,
securely fastened with bolts. . Neck brace is mandatory
for Speedrome JR's.
WEIGHT: for Youth (Speedrome
JR) Class is 2450 minimum weight with driver after race.
Speedrome JR Must be at
least 12 years of age with Parental Consent form signed by
both parents or legal guardians. (2007) Must also provide
a copy of the Youth Driver's Birth Certificate to be held
on file at the CHEMUNG SPEEDROME office.
Youth may race until
his/her (17th) seventeenth birthday and finish the season
in the speedrome JR Class or move up to a different
