Carol Houssock Returns to Chemung for 2014
By: Ray Hodge

With the ongoing changes for the 2014 season at the Chemung Speedrome, long time race Announcer Carol Houssock will make her return and be the voice of the Chemung Speedrome in 2014. Carol has spent the last several years as the track Announcer at the Clinton County Speedway on Friday nights and on Saturday nights as the Co Announcer at Shangri-La 2, filling in for long time Race Announcer Al Robinson who is recovering from a stroke. After some changes at Clinton County and the opportunity becoming available at Chemung, Carol made the difficult choice to not return to Clinton County and start her 20th season as a track Announcer at the Chemung Speedrome, the track she called home for many years. Houssock says she is very excited to return home to Chemung and be reunited with Dano Williams as the Co Announcer for 2014. Williams made his return to Chemung half way through the 2013 season and is very excited to be coming back in 2014. We are looking forward to having Carol back in 2014 said track owner John White. Carol and Dano have worked well to together in the past and we are very excited to have them both back, this will also free up former Announcer Ray Hodge to assist Kathy and I with the many track functions on a weekly basis including working as the Race Director White says.

The 2014 Chemung Schedule is just about finalized and will be out very soon. With Chemung's success in 2013 comes a bigger and better schedule for 2014. The Race of Champions Modified Tour will again kick our season off on Sunday May 4th 2014. Last years opening day ROC show attracted a great crowd and this years show should do the same as the Modifieds always put on a great show on the very fast Chemung asphalt. With the ROC Oswego weekend moving to September for 2014, Chemung will have no time off all summer. The Big 10 Super Stock series will return to Chemung for two big shows in 2014 White says. The Big 10 series is growing and we want to be a part of that growth with two shows this season.

Chemung Speedrome had a turnaround year in 2013 and John White is doing all that he can to keep things going in that direction. Getting the right people in the right places, attracting new drivers and crews and making improvements to the facility will all continue in 2014. A new Tech Barn, a new track ambulance, the addition and return of Carol Houssock and Dano Williams, the great food that will return as the concessions stand will continue to put out a great product along with some additions to the menu for 2014. We will also be working on Chemung Speedrome Souvenirs that should be available beginning the first week.

Another new feature this season will be weekly programs that will be made up thanks to Betty Sherwood and the Spaulding Foundation for Injured Drivers. They will be for sale weekly and all proceeds go to the Spaulding Foundation. The programs will consist of Standings, Drivers, track news and at least one article with a featured driver every week.

With the changes and commitment by track owner John White to make Chemung Speedrome the place to be on Friday nights, we hope to make the experience at Chemung great for all Drivers, Crews and Fans.
