2013 Chemung Speedrome Bandolero Champion David French
By: Ray Hodge
French, an eighth grade honor student at Epiphany Catholic
School in Sayre PA. Is the Chemung Speedrome INEX Bandolero
track Champion for 2013.
David finished second
in track points in 2012 in the Bandolero division and In
2013 David came back as determined as ever and kicked off
the season with a big win over 2012 Champion Nick Morich.
The 13 year old son of David and Valerie French would go on
to win 9 more races in 2013 ending the season ten for ten
putting on a great show week in and week out on his way to
winning a track Championship.
David would also run at the Bethel Motor Speedway in the Bandolero and
have a very impressive season there as well. At Bethel,
David would start 27 races in 2013. He finished the season
with 17 top five finishes as well as 4 second place
finishes. David would finish the season third in points at
Bethel in 2013. His very impressive season at Bethel would
propel him to a Pennsylvania State Championship in the INEX
Bandolero Outlaw Division. In the Nation Wide battle for
INEX Bandolero Drivers, David would finish the season ninth
out of 258 drivers from across the United States.
In his victory lane interviews, David, a very well-spoken young man was
always quick to thank his Mom and Dad who were involved in
every victory lane ceremony in 2013. Davidís father, who has
been involved in racing for many years has enjoyed many
victories and Championships in the past. Now being the Owner
and crew Chief for son David and winning ten out ten this
year and a Championship, should be just the beginning for
Davidís Mother Valerie French is his biggest fan. The excitement of
winning was the same in week 10 as it was in week one.
Valerie would run to victory lane after every win and
congratulate David, take lots of pictures and remind David
to thank his sponsors. After thanking Mom and Dad, He would
make very sure that he thanked every single one of his
sponsors every single week without fail.
At the Chemung Banquet, I asked David about his plans for 2014. He tells
me that his plans as of now are to return in the Bandolero
in 2014 to defend his track title. With his parents support
in his racing career, this polite and very talented 13 year
old driver will be part of this business for a long time and
I am certain with a ton of success.
