Chemung Honors 6 Division Champions at 2013 Banquet
By: Ray Hodge
November 3rd, Chemung Speedrome held its awards banquet and
dinner at the Athens Volunteer Fire Department. A great
turnout of Drivers, crew members, family and friends were on
hand as the Champions were crowned.
Throughout the winter months, I will be doing articles for the website
for each of the tracks six Champions. A great 2013 season at
Chemung has track owner John White looking forward to the
2014 season that looks to have a lot of promise as Friday
night racing will continue. By the end of November, a new
tech garage will be completed just outside of turns 3 and 4
in the Legend pit area. This along with some other upgrades
and additions to the schedule for the 2014 season will be a
great stride forward for Chemung and its Drivers and Fans.
The 2013 Champions include the #53 Bandolero driven by David French who
had ten feature wins on the season. INEX Legend driver Mike
Alcaro won Eight times on his way to a track championship.
Horseheads driver Nick Morich picked up three wins on the
season and a track title in the Four Cylinder division. The
dirt Crate Sportsman division saw Elmiras Paul Jenkins pick
up his first track championship in that division. The Super
Stock division was something to watch all season but in the
end, Jeff Goodwin had a dominant year picking up six wins
and his fourth Chemung Speedrome track Championship. Jimmy
Zacharias after finishing second in the 2012 season came
back with vengeance as he picked up another Chemung track
Championship in the Sunoco Modifieds.
In December I will start the articles on all the Champions starting with
Bandolero Champ David French. Also throughout the winter we
will post updates for 2014 as plans get finalized.
