USAC Honda Ignite Midgets make a return to Chemung Speedrome
By: Ray Hodge

Joining a full night of NASCAR racing at the Speedrome, The USAC Honda Ignite Midgets made an appearance at Chemung for the first time since 2005. On a night that saw some great racing from all divisions, the Midgets were no exception and put on a great show for the Chemung fans. Former Chemung race director and announcer John Flock made the 2 hour trip to Chemung to watch the Midgets and to talk to some old friends. They are a lot of fun to watch Flock said and well worth the trip. Eventual feature winner Ryan Krachun made the trip from New Jersey and put on a clinic in the 40 lap feature that saw a very strong run by North Carolina driver Chris Lamb come up one spot short of the win after spinning on lap 19. Lamb restarted last and in 12 laps, made his way back to the second spot. Lamb looked high and low to find a way around Krachun for the final 8 laps but could not make it work. Kratchun said in victory lane , it was a lot of fun here at Chemung and the battle with Lamb was perfect.

Another New Jersey driver, Justin Whitall did not finish the race after finding the wall on the backstretch on lap 29. Whitall would walk away from the crash but the car went off on the flatbed. Kratchun would come home with the victory followed by Lamb, Blain Leydig from Pennsylvania came home third followed by North Carolina driver Tyler Corrihen, Will Raber from Michigan finished fifth. New Jersey drivers Calvin and Nikki Carroll came home sixth and seventh respectively and Whitall would finish in the eighth and final position.
