Chemung Speedrome Action Packed Events for July

By: John Flock

The half-way point for 2013 Chemung Speedrome season has arrived. Car counts are growing; the point chases could hardly be closer. Owner John White has scheduled some exciting special events for the vacation month of July. Three events will present a special attraction at each race evening. Now for more good news! There is no increase in the general admission prices for all of the July shows. If you present your rain check from the previous show, adults and seniors will receive a $2.00 discount.

This Friday, July 5th, the holiday race fans will witness the Atlantic Coast Old Timers organization pay a visit to the banked asphalt oval. On their last visit to the area, cars from the 1920ís through the 1970ís were seen by an appreciative crowd. Along with the antique racers, a full card of NASCAR racing will be presented. The NASCAR Sunoco Modifieds will battle over a 40 lap distance. The full-bodied Super Stocks will also vie for NASCAR points in their 25 lap test. The new 4-Cylinder Stocks will test the skill of the youthful drivers in a 20 lap feature event. INEX Legends (20 laps), INEX Bandoleros (8 laps), and the dirt track Crate Sportsman will fill out the nightís program.

On Friday, July 12th, Legends of Chemung Night will be presented. Adding to spice of the Legends Night, the Midstate Vintage Stock Car Club racers will take to Chemungís smooth oval with their racers from the 1950ís to 1970ís. These racers are not afraid to bang wheels and drive hard for victory. All the NASCAR divisions will also be on hand for this special night. The Sunoco Modifieds, Super Stocks (double point night), 4-Cylinder Stocks, INEX Legends and Bandoleros, and the dirt track Crate Sportsman divisions will all add to your racing enjoyment.

Friday July 19th is a vacation night as competitors head for the Race of Champions events in Oswego.

Chemung Speedrome racing will finish out the month of July in fine style on Friday July 26th. On that special night, the United States Auto Club presents the speedy Ford Focus Midgets. We expect nearly twenty machines for this program. The USAC racers are looking forward to the high speeds they should achieve at Chemung. It will indeed be a full night of action for your favorite drivers in the Sunoco Modifieds, Super Stocks, 4-Cylinder Stocks, INEX Legends and Bandoleros, and the dirt track Crate Sportsman.

Chemung Speedrome is located off Route 17 (new I-86) exit 59. Set GPS for zip 14825. Point standings, schedules, and other information is available on our web site www.ChemungSpeedrome.Net.
