Prepares For May 7th Opener;
Modifieds To Run Limited Schedule
by Carol Houssock
(Chemung, NY) All systems are go for the
start of the 2005 season at Chemung Speedrome. The track's new promoter,
Chris Zacharias, said the two upcoming practice sessions will set the
stage for the weekly performances to follow. "We're all set for
this Saturday's (April 23rd) first practice. We'll be conducting
mandatory safety inspections from 10 AM until noon," he explained.
The open practice will run from noon until 4 PM. "No car will be
allowed on the track unless it has passed the safety inspection,"
Zacharias added. The same procedures will be in effect for the April
30th practice session.
Zacharias reminds all race teams that
one-way radios are not required for these two practice dates but are
mandatory once the season begins. That rule applies to all divisions
except the INEX Legends.
Grandstand admission is free for the
April 23rd and 30th practices, while those entering the pits will pay
$15 each. Zacharias said 2005 is all about fun, and everyone's first
chance to experience that fun is just days away.
Opening day is set for Saturday, May 7th.
The pits will open at 1 PM, grandstand and practice at 2 PM, and the
green flag drops for racing at 4 PM. General admission is $10 for
adults, kids 9-16 and seniors age 60 and over $7, and kids under 9 are
admitted free.
The 2005 schedule is posted on
www.chemungspeedrome.net, but Zacharias is adding more races. "In
response to popular demand we've added the Modifieds to our program once
a month," he stated. "On those dates our general admission
will be $15, with one additional dollar charged to kids and
seniors."
Racers and fans are encouraged to log on
to the track's website for the latest information. Race teams having
questions should email Zacharias at Chriszak7@cs.com.
