A large crowd and the biggest field of race cars so far this year brought Chemung Speedrome to life on Friday night. Feature winners included Jimmy Zacharias (Sunoco Modifieds), Mike Nichols (Super Stocks), Ryan Purvis (4 Cylinders), Brandon DeBrakeleer (INEX Legends) and David French (Bandoleros). It’s hard to discuss the Sunoco Modified division at Chemung without bringing multi-time track champion Jimmy Zacharias and his younger brother TJ into the conversation. Friday night was no exception, but for slightly different reasons.... Full Story

TJ Zacharias Breaks…His Wrist…Still Sweeps Chemung Sunoco Modifieds by Carol Houssock
.

The weather forecast was “iffy” but Chemung Speedrome management went for it and pulled off another action-packed night of racing. Fans witnessed 6 features for the track’s five divisions. What they didn’t realize was that they were witnessing a one-handed sweep in the headline Sunoco Modified division. TJ Zacharias, injured early in his heat race, continued on to win that qualifier. He then was in the right place and did all the right stuff at the end of their 40-lap feature to claim his fourth feature win. X-rays at the hospital following the races indicated.... Full Story

Winners this past Friday night included TJ Zacharias (Sunoco Modifieds), Monica Green (4 Cylinders), Matt Kurzejewski (INEX Legends) and Teddy Bowen (Bandoleros). Terry Potrzebowski was declared the Super Stock feature winner after Mike Nichols failed post-race technical inspection. Randy Mathews (4 Cylinders), Brandon DeBrakeleer (INEX Legends) and Lars McElravy (Bandoleros) also picked up feature wins on a beautiful Friday night. Last month TJ Zacharias got his career-first win in the Sunoco Modified.... Full Story

Brothers Zacharias Finish 1-2 in Chemung Mods; Tim Gullo Dominates NYSS 50-Lapper by Carol Houssock

Memorial races are always packed with emotion. This one took three tries to even happen. Rained out on both June 5th and then again this past Friday night, Chemung and New York Super Stock (NYSS) officials opted to run the entire show on Saturday, June 13th. Family members of the late Gary Marshall, who fell to his death from an 11-story apartment building during a December fire, gathered and took part in touching pre-race ceremonies that included Beth Bailey singing both Amazing Grace and the national anthem. Feature winners included Jimmy.... Full Story

Thunderstorms Wash Out Chemung by Carol Houssock
.

The call to cancel came early, saving race teams competing on the New York Super Stock Tour from making an unnecessary haul to Chemung. It was to have been a night to honor the memory of the late Gary Marshall, and teams competing were going for a ton of bonus money. All is not lost, however, as the 50-lap Gary Marshall Memorial will now get the green this Friday night, June 12th. One postponement will, in this case, lead to another. The headline Sunoco Modifieds were scheduled to run a special 75-lap feature this weekend but that race will now.... Full Story

They’re baaaaack! They are the Sunoco Modifieds. After a successful season opener, followed by a break for Mother’s Day, racing gets back in full swing this Sunday, May 17th, at Chemung Speedrome. Drivers in the track’s regular divisions all start on equal footing this week as points were not awarded two weeks ago.
