rules. Tony Hanbury took command after battling T.J.
Potrzebowski, J.R. Kent and T.J. Zacharias. Once in front,
Hanbury held his lead to the checkers. T.J. Zacharias would
be about a straight ahead of T.J. Zacharias at the checkers.
A four car battle behind the leaders held the fans’
attention. Rusty Smith, Zach Curren, T.J. Potrzebowski, Jim

Jeff Goodwin and Zach Curren Score Big at Chemung
by John Flock
.
Rounding out the month of May, Chemung Speedrome featured the Super Stock
division in a 50 lap challenge event. Many drivers came in
search of the enhanced purse, yet track regular Jeff Goodwin
again claimed the checkers. Some visiting teams suffered
problems before the feature even started. Lee Sharpsteen
appeared to lose an engine in warm ups. Charlie Sharpsteen
couldn’t make the call for the feature. In the early laps,
Both Joe Snell and Jake Snell fell to mechanical problems.
Joining the gang of hard luck, Bob Ripley and Chuck Nichols
would never make it to the half way marker. Early leaders
Gary Noe and Jacob Duke could only hold back so long before
Goodwin would take command. Terry Potrzebowski fought from
the back of the field to chase Jeff Goodwin’s McDonalds
machine to the checkers. Potrzebowski would Battle with Gary
Noe, Joe Lane, and Jason Duke to have his chance at victory.
It was not to be, as Jeff Goodwin kept his perfect Chemung
2013 winning streak alive. Jeff led the field by half a lap
at the finish. Terry Potrzebowski, Jason Duke, Joe Lane, and
Gary Noe earned top five finishes.

Chemung Speedrome Batting .500
by John Flock
.
Joining the long list of cancellations across our area, Chemung Speedrome
cancelled due to rain and cold weather. The first May event,
Andrew Harpell's Race of Champions event went off under
sunny skies. Our NASCAR season opener on May 10th fell to
rain. May 17th, Whelen Engineering and Mobil 1 came on board
and racing proceeded without a hitch. Following the pattern,
May 24th racing again fell to rain.
Now the good news! If the pattern holds, the Friday, May 31st event
should run under sunny skies and warm temperatures. The
Super Stocks will be in the spotlight, battling for a 50 lap
special event. For further information, see
www.ChemungSpeedrome.net. Race day phone is (607) 529-9998.
