Charlie Sharpsteen Grabs 4th Chemung Modified Win, Zack Curren Gets Title By One Point by Carol Houssock

  It was a night of nail-biting excitement as Chemung Speedrome closed out the season and recognized the 2019 track champions. The headline Sunoco Modified title chase came down to a single point – one position on the track – and it went in favor of five-time feature winner, Zack Curren. Nick Robinson earned another championship in the Super Stock division while Greg Moldt reversed last year’s late-season bad luck to earn his first title at the track. Chemung Schedule Changes Include a First for Two Sanctioning Bodies by Carol Houssock

  Officials with Chemung Speedrome announced some major changes to the schedule for the month of September. The first of those changes involves moving championship night from Friday, September 6th to Friday, September 20th with a rain date of Saturday, September 21st. The first weekend in September will now feature a two-day show. On Friday, September 6th Chemung will run its own Super Stock division in a memorial race for the late Ed Bidlack. The 42-lap race distance represents his car number. Bidlack was murdered.... Full Story

Gary Ham Turns Tragedy Into Triumph At Chemung by Steven Ovens

  Chemung Speedrome paid tribute to our nation’s veterans and active duty military personnel Friday night with an opening ceremony that included the members of the Valley Color Guard from Sayre, Waverly and Athens. Chemung Rained Out, Veterans to be Honored This Friday by Carol Houssock

  Extreme heat was going to make it uncomfortable, but when heavy thunderstorms roared into the area it forced Chemung Speedrome officials to pull the plug on the Friday night program. It was to have been a night when the track honored those who served, or currently are serving, in the military. The entire show has been postponed one week and will be presented this Friday night.   On Friday night the track recognized and thanked Stateline Auto Auction for the loan of its large sweeper. While it remained parked, four of the five feature winners earned high-speed sweeps in their divisions. Race Teams, Staff and Fans Gearing Up For Chemung Opener by Carol Houssock

  Race teams had their first opportunity to test and tune their cars at Chemung Speedrome on Saturday evening. Cars from the track’s five regular divisions and two representing the Race of Champions modified series took turns getting ready. Ray and Ellen Hodge Leasing Chemung Speedrome, Reverting to Friday Nights by Carol Houssock

  Chemung’s offseason brought with it a plethora of rumors about 2019. This week the rumor mill shut down when longtime Race Director, Ray Hodge, and his wife, Ellen, entered into an agreement with track owner, John White, to lease Chemung for the 2019 season. “At the end of the 2018 season I announced I was leaving the track because Saturday nights no longer worked for me,” Hodge said. He and Ellen had missed out on weekends with their children and grandchildren, something that had not been the case when the Speedrome.... Full Story
