Chemung Speedrome Honors Drivers and Staff by Carol Houssock
.

Chemung Speedrome closed the books on 2014 at their annual banquet, held at Roundin' Third Regale in Horseheads, NY. Drivers representing the track's six divisions were on hand, along with their family and crew members, track employees and fans. Jimmy Zacharias picked up his 4th Speedrome championship in the headline NASCAR Weekly Modified division. Winner of a division-leading 6 features, he claimed the title prior to the end of the season. But he returned for the season-finale on September 7th to run the 71-lap Shirley Zacharias Memorial. He won the.... Full Story

Chemung Speedrome Stays With Friday Night Racing by Ray Hodge
.

In an effort to help revive local short track racing in the Southern Tier, Chemung Speedrome owner John White had successfully worked out a deal with the Owner/ Management of the Shang 2 Speedway in Tioga Center. After the agreement was made, White moved forward and posted the Chemung Speedrome 2015 schedule, which, in an effort to work more closely together, moved the tracks' weekly racing program from Friday nights to Saturday nights. The schedule had been designed for the two tracks to work somewhat together and part of the.... Full Story

Jimmy Zacharias Wins Chemung’s Shirley Zacharias Memorial 71-Lapper by Carol Houssock
.

The sunny Sunday was filled with memories of the late Shirley Zacharias, matriarch of the southern tier racing family. She then sent down a virtual kiss to Jimmy, who won the big event and capped off a season at Chemung that included the track championship. Mike Nichols won the battle (25-lap feature) in the Super Stocks but Tim Gullo won the war and celebrated his 2014 track championship.... Full Story

Chemung Rainout Means Some Titles Determined, Others Up For Grabs by Carol Houssock
.

A 100% forecast of rain during race time forced the management team at Chemung Speedrome to cancel for just the third time this season. They made the decision early to save teams competing on the Big 10 Super Stock Series from needlessly making the haul. The forecast was spot on. One less race date will not be an issue for three drivers who clinched the 2014 titles. Jimmy Zacharias, who will likely miss Friday’s race to run in the RoC event at Oswego, has an insurmountable lead of 135 points. Two perfect weeks of winning the heats and features would award 130 points.... Full Story
